What is Chow Photos Club?

We meet once a week after school to learn about some practical skills with a walkabout or workshop and a possible special event.

Practicals.

At the start of the term we will go over everyones camera that they will need to provide for themselves to build confidence with their camera. If the school is still lending out their iPad then members can use them at your own risk. Camera phones are welcomed.

Members will need to sign up for an email account so we may create a Flickr account where we will be Storing (uploading), Tagging (labeling and adding captions) and Filing (privacy setting) the photos taken.

Storing photos with Flickr is free using a Digital camera, unless you are using a Film camera where you will need to develop yourself into digital format. Flickr is for 13yrs and older, this means parents or guardian will need to review their terms and conditions to make sure that photo club member and their parent or guardian understand and agree to these terms and conditions.

Members will learn how a pinhole camera works and other fundamentals:

When the weather conditions are favourable. Members would be encouraged to look at their own environment in a different way and throughout the terms they will discover the changes in their subject through the seasons.

We will also have the chance to learn about other photographers and their techniques.
Members will review each other’s photos taken during each meet up.

Special event. During the school year there could be school events with the opportunities for the members to photograph. Members will learn what is needed to take good photos for an event and could be vetted by the school for the job.

Competitions & Exhibitions. We will be looking out for other opportunities to submit photos or join in an exhibition for viewing at a gallery and exhibit their own work at the school fair.
